The Second Program helps ex-offenders achieve employment readiness with onsite supportive employment counselors who provides:

  1. Providing employment and Supportive employment services.

  2. Employment readiness workshops

  3. Mock interviews, Creating resume.

  4. Application preparations

  5. Job searching skills (self-marketing)

  6. Employment assessment testing Communication skills for business environment 

  7. Budgeting

  8. Time Management

  9. Determining individual Job Skills Preparing Your Resume and Cover Letters

  10. Resources on the Internet     

  11. Discussing the obstacles of an ex-offender

  12. Tips for success (consistence, pro-action, goal setting)

  13. Dealing with stress 

  14. Defense Mechanism (natural consequences)

  15. Resume and Cover Letter preparation

  16. Finding resources on the Internet

Education and Vocational Assistance

The Second Chance program works with local education, and Vocational programs to help ex-offenders complete FASFA forms, select educational programs suited to their skill set, enrollment in courses such as: GED programs, associates degrees, bachelor’s degrees, CDL, HVAC, Mechanic, and Forklift licensures.

Driver’s License Restoration

The Second Chance program works with the DMV, and local Traffic schools to help assist ex-offenders obtain their Driver’s license by offering driving classes. The SCP also works with local Law offices to help with license restoration.

  2. Re-entry services

The SCP helps ex-offenders connect with re-entry service providers who can best serve their needs. Services includes:

  1. Providing pre-release reentry services for low level offenders.  

  2. Obtaining Medicaid and Medicare services.

  3. Connecting with programs that help with food assistance, and shelter.

  4. Pre-release assessments to determine what additional services are needed (Substance abuse/Mental health etc.).

The Second Chance Program work is performed through a 6-week program followed by six months of intensive supportive employment services.

Everyone is different and at the Second Chance Program there is no “one size fits all” approach. SCP works with each individual based on their interests and past experience to create a personalized plan to meet their goals.
